Highway junction to the A22 in South Brixen / Bressanone, Construction Stages A and B, Brixen / Bressanone

This project pertains to the planning and construction of a new highway junction. This junction relieves the traffic load relieves the traffic load in the center of the city of Brixen and permits direct access to the industrial zone. Special attention was devoted to developing a project compatible with the landscape and with the minimum use of land. The solution developed was a space-saving semi traffic interchange. In total 3.05 km of roadway were re-routed. The construction of the roundabout along the SS12 made it possible to create a single, central traffic node encompassing the highway onramps and exits but also the Brixen industrial zone and the provincial highway to Albeins / Albès. In the context of the project major noise-protection measures were also implemented along the highway and the SS12 (a protective wall made of reinforced earth and noise-protection walls made of wood and transparent polycarbonate components, in part bilaterally absorptive) and optimally adapted to local conditions.
