Project description

Bridges connect places, districts, entire cities or countries. The new Eagle Bridge over the Eisack river should not only connect the historic old town of Bressanone with the even older district of Stufels, it should also become a real place of encounter. It should be a gateway to the other side of the river and, with the help of semantic, symbolic elements, it should become the most significant of the Bressanone bridges. Following the previous conceptual thoughts, our design for the Eagle Bridge has a square-like character with an inviting widening towards the district of Stufels.

The materialization of the lift bridge essentially combines and integrates three building materials that clearly differ from each other in function and design, yet complement each other: rust-resistant Lean Duplex steel for the hollow box of the bridge girder, a paving of porphyry stones, as well as the railing consisting of round individual posts made of "Baubronze" with individual lighting poles as extended railing posts.
