Bicycle trail and footpath over the Neckar River, Heidelberg
Project description
Judging by the jury: network of paths for direct access. The engineering team "Bergmeister" from Vahrn (Italy), "J2M jeckel mayr metz architekten" from Munich and "lohrer.hochrein landschaftsarchitekten und stadtplaner" from Munich see the new bridge as a network of paths which largely takes up all the transverse directions along the main railway line between Bahnstadt and university, thus providing all cyclists and pedestrians with direct access and a short transition. The bridge also serves as a recreational area: seating steps and a terrace at water level are planned in its centre. The jury praised the bold approach of radical networking and the consistency of the design approach, which is characterised by polygons.
