Experimental laboratory for testing innovative district heating and district cooling networks, Bozen / Bolzano
Project description
At the site of the former aluminum factory in the industrial zone of Bozen / Bolzano, an experimental laboratory for testing innovative district heating and district cooling systems was established for EURAC Research. The laboratory encompasses several innovative energy generation plants as well as a district heating network with heat storage units and corresponding consumers so as to be able to carry out energy supply simulations under realistic conditions. The installation includes, inter alia, the following components: heat transfer pumps for generating heat and cold; oil/water heat exchangers for connection to a system for the generation of heat with diathermic fluids; solar parabolic mirrors with diathermic fluid and oil-ORC technology; absorbers with hotwater supply.
