Church bridge – pedestrian bridge over the Reischach Brook, Reischach
Project description
As the name commonly applied to this structure in Reischach / Riscone – "Church Bridge" – indicates, this bridge is oriented towards the church. This is further emphasized by the asymmetrical shoreline: On the church side, it's relatively steep and covered with foliage, while on the village side, the landscape is flatter and more open, with an alluvial meadow. The new Church Bridge embodies this oriented and asymmetrical situation in a simple and demure fashion: The way plate is a ramp with a 5% inclination, oriented towards the church. The bridgework consists of a lattice girder which continually tapers in the direction of the church and is planked with oak. This bridgework with the rising keel and the gently twisting, wooden side surfaces creates the impression of the bow of a ship sailing over the alluvial meadow towards the church.
