District Heating Plant, Brenner / Brennero
Project description
On the basis of a feasibility study for the new construction of a biomass thermal energy plant in Brenner with the compilation of detailed data on households, this job encompassed the overall planning of the district heating network, the specialized planning for the construction of the district heating plant and of the installation of heat transfer stations to convey energy to the final customers. The district heating plant's design is based on a combination of a biomass boiler (with a rated capacity of 1,600 kW) and a heating oil boiler (3,000 kW) serving to cover peak power demands. The heating oil boiler was already sized so as to be able to cover the district heating plant's total energy requirements. The district heating network has a total length of 5.5 km, and serves to deliver heat energy to the final customers the whole year round.
