Modular cogeneration plant for the Hotel Rainer, Ratschings
Project description
The operation of the Hotel Rainer consumes a great deal of electrical energy and simultaneously heat energy. As a consequence, a feasibility study was conducted to determine if it would be economical to cover the hotel's energy needs using a modular cogeneration plant fueled with vegetable oil.
After examining various available subsidies, the decision was made to install a modular cogeneration plant with a rated thermal capacity of 284 kW and a rated electrical capacity of 330 kW. The modular cogeneration plant is fueled with environmentally-compatible, renewable vegetable oil obtained from the E.U. region. The power plant serves chiefly to generation electrical energy. The thermal energy which is simultaneously generated is used in the Hotel Rainer and – via a local heating network – a nearby elementary school and two residential apartment buildings.
